Mount Vernon, NY (January 29, 2019) – An apartment fire tragically claimed the life of one man while leaving one woman hospitalized on Monday evening, January 28. The fire was reported to have started at around 5:30 p.m. on the second floor of a multi-family structure located on South 1 st Avenue in Mount Vernon. According to authorities, firefighters were immediately dispatched to the scene where they were able to contain the fire to one apartment within a matter of minutes. Responders were able to rescue one woman from the kitchen who was said to be in cardiac arrest. The woman was taken to a first-floor landing where EMS administered CPR before transporting the victim to Mount Vernon Hospital. A man in his 60’s was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Aurelius, NY (January 29, 2019) – Serious injuries were reported following a motor vehicle collision between a car and a DOT plow truck on Tuesday morning, January 29, according to authorities. The crash was stated to have taken place at around 10:30 a.m. in the town of Aurelius, located in Cayuga County. Westbury, NY (January 28, 2019) – Monday afternoon, January 28, a motor vehicle was stated to have crashed into a nail salon in Westbury, Long Island, subsequently causing the injuries of four people.
