Binghamton, NY – 11-Year-Old Boy Struck by SUV at Intersection

Binghamton, NY (October 31, 2018) – An accident occurred Tuesday morning, October 30, that resulted in an 11-year-old boy being hospitalized in critical condition. The victim of that accident which was reported to have happened at the intersection of Route 7 and Frederick Street around 7:30 a.m. has recently been identified by police as Jariah Durgala.

According to the preliminary investigation, Durgala was crossing the street with a friend in an active work zone when he was struck by an SUV. Binghamton City Police and state police arrived on the scene along with medical personnel within mere minutes after the incident.

Durgala was promptly taken to Wilson Memorial Hospital by Superior Ambulance before being airlifted to Upstate Medical University Hospital in Syracuse for treatment. Durgala currently remains in critical condition at this time. Neither the driver of the SUV nor Durgala’s friend were harmed in the accident.

No further information has been released at this time as police are continuing an investigation into the incident.
