Delmar, NY – Update: Bicyclist Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver, Identified

Delmar, NY (October 31, 2018) – The victim of an accident between a bicyclist and a motor vehicle that took place on Elsmere Avenue yesterday, October 30, has been identified as 80-year-old Nelson Harrington. The elderly man had been riding his bike when he was struck by a motorist who fled the scene at around 6:30 p.m.

Police stated that Harrington had been attempting to cross Elsmere Avenue when a vehicle that was heading north on that road, struck the man. The accident took place in the vicinity of Fernbank Avenue, according to authorities.

Police were dispatched to the scene along with emergency medical personnel to assist the injured party and evaluate the crash site. Harrington was immediately transported to Albany Medical Center to undergo treatment for multiple internal injuries.

The current condition of the victim has not been stated at this time, and no further details have been made available. Police are still searching for the driver who caused the collision.
