South Bristol, NY – House Fire in Ontario County Claims Two Lives

South Bristol, NY (November 30, 2018) – Officials in South Bristol have stated that a propane tank that exploded may have contributed to the extensiveness of a raging fire that tragically claimed two lives on Thursday night, November 29. The fire was reported to have started at around 9:00 p.m. when explosions were heard by neighbors at a home on Egypt Valley Road, which is also known as County Road 33.

While a propane tank was stated to have exploded in the fire, the official cause of the blaze is not known at this time. The house that caught fire is in a very rural area, which subsequently caused a delay in getting water to the scene. The bodies of two people who died in the fire were found about three hours after crews contained the flames.

Bristol, Naples, Honeoye Falls, Richmond, and East Bloomfield Fire Departments were all among those who responded to the incident. The Monroe County Medical Examiner will be in charge of identifying the victims.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
