Ithaca, NY – Eight Injured in TCAT Bus Crash with Car

Ithaca, NY (January 29, 2019) – According to the Ithaca Police Department, a vehicle ran a red light and collided with a TCAT bus early Tuesday morning, January 29, resulting in the injuries of at least eight people. The collision was reported to have occurred at the intersection of West Green Street and South Meadow Street at around 8:40 a.m.

Authorities stated that the car involved, identified as a Subaru, had been traveling north along South Meadow Street when it crashed into the side of the bus, which had been heading east down West Green Street at the time. The impact of the collision forced the bus to veer over and ultimately crash into a tree. Emergency medical crews confirmed that eight people, all passengers on the bus, as well as the bus driver, suffered at least minor injuries.

The bus driver wounds have been reported as a leg injury, as five people altogether were transported to a local hospital via ambulance. The driver of the Subaru was cited for running a red light but suffered no injuries in the accident.
