Upper East Side, Manhattan, NY – Elderly Woman Killed in Pedestrian Accident on East 91st Street
Upper East Side, Manhattan, NY (January 30, 2019) – A fatal pedestrian accident was reported to have taken place on Tuesday night, January 29, along East 91st Street in Manhattan. According to police, the victim, identified as 64-year-old Mei Zhuan, tragically lost her life after being struck by a vehicle at around 9:20 p.m.
Authorities stated that Zhuan was hit by the vehicle which was attempting to reverse into a parking spot at the time. The incident occurred between Park Avenue and Lexington Avenue after Zhuan entered the roadway behind the Audi SUV that had been attempting to park. Police reported that Zhuan fell to the ground immediately after being struck.
Emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the scene where they found Zhuan lying in the roadway and suffering severe head trauma. She was immediately transported to a local hospital where authorities confirmed that she was pronounced dead a short time later.
The driver was reported to have remained at the scene and no further information has been made available.
