Brentwood, NY – Intoxicated Woman Causes Injurious Crash with Child in Car

Brentwood, NY (February 28, 2019) – A mother in Brentwood, unfortunately, caused an injurious collision with her young daughter in the vehicle while driving intoxicated on Wednesday night, February 27. According to authorities, the accident happened shortly before midnight on the Long Island Expressway in Melville.

Police stated that Karlita Rojas-Reyes lost control of the vehicle she had been driving and crashed into the median wall located just east of exit 49. At the time of the crash, Rojas-Reyes had her 9-year-old daughter in the vehicle with her.

Paramedics and police were immediately called to the scene where both parties were treated for at least minor injuries. The child was released into the custody of her grandfather after Rojas-Reyes was with felony DWI under Leandra’s Law, according to authorities. There has been no information concerning any other parties being involved in the incident at this time.
