Corning, NY – Trooper Struck and Injured by Tractor-Trailer while Assisting Other Driver
Corning, NY (February 27, 2019) – A serious personal injury accident took place while a Trooper was stopped along the eastbound lane of Route 86 on Wednesday morning, February 27. Police stated that the incident occurred at around 9:05 a.m. as Trooper Jacob Wackowski was assisting with traffic control due to a weather-related motor vehicle accident along the roadway.
Authorities reported that Trooper Wackowski was parked with his emergency lights activated when he was sideswiped by a tractor-trailer. The tractor-trailer involved was being operated by 53-year-old Troy English, of Buffalo, who has been issued tickets for several vehicle and traffic violations alongside Failure to Obey the Move Over Law.
Trooper Wackowski was immediately transported to Corning Hospital to be treated for injuries that have been classified as minor at this time. Police have not released any further information concerning the cause of the accident.
