Hanover, NY – Man Struck and Seriously Injured by Snow Plow on Route 5

Hanover, NY (February 27, 2019) – According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, an unidentified 52-year-old man was struck and severely injured by a private snow plow on Wednesday evening, February 27. The incident was reported to have taken place at around 7:42 p.m. in the town of Hanover.

According to Sheriff’s Deputies, the man had been walking along the side of the westbound lane of Route 5, approaching the intersection with Route 20. For reasons that have not yet been determined, the man was then struck by a private snow plow that was in the area at the time.

Police and emergency medical crews were immediately called to the scene of the collision where they transported the victim to Lakeshore Hospital. While the specifics of the victims’ injuries have not been stated, his condition is currently considered serious.

Deputies reported that the investigation into the events that led to this incident is ongoing at this time. No further details have been provided.
