Sunset Park, Brooklyn, NY – 7-Year-Old Boy Hospitalized After Pedestrian Crash
Sunset Park, Brooklyn, NY (February 28, 2019) – A 7-year-old boy has been hospitalized after being struck and injured by a vehicle on Wednesday afternoon, February 27, in the Sunset Park section of Brooklyn. Police stated that while the injured child, identified as Steven Sanfilippo, of Graniteville, was initially reported to be in critical condition, his injuries now appear to be non-life-threatening.
The accident was reported to have occurred along 56th Street, between Fourth Avenue and Fifth Avenue at approximately 3:30 p.m. According to the boy’s father, Sanfilippo had been walking in the aforementioned area with his mother when a vehicle came out of nowhere and hit the child.
Police and paramedics arrived at the scene and transported the victim to NYU Langone Hospital with a broken leg and a deep gash to his head. The driver of the vehicle involved has been taken into custody as police currently continue their investigation into the incident.
