Riverhead, NY – DUI Accident Leads to Arrest in Riverhead
Riverhead, NY (March 31, 2019) – A woman was arrested following a DUI accident that took place yesterday after she fled from police and crashed her vehicle.
The woman, identified as 29-year-old Dominique Scaggs, allegedly drove under the influence and struck a telephone pole, a parked vehicle, and the fence of a nearby home before she was arrested.
Police initially received a call that there had been a larceny at the CVS on 1140 Old Country Road. Police attempted to pull over the vehicle with two people sitting in the front seat who engaged in the burglary, but the driver fled the scene and was promptly involved in the accident.
The driver had a 4-month-old and 1-year-old daughter in the vehicle with her who were taken to the Stony Brook University Hospital. All parties are expected to be okay and Child Protective Services was called.
Both the driver and the passenger, 35-year-old Alicia Descalzo, were arrested and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, according to police.
Police continue their investigation at this time and more charges are pending.
