Utica, NY – Girl Struck in Pedestrian Accident on Sunset Avenue

Utica, NY (March 30, 2019) – Around 9 a.m. yesterday, March 29, police were called to the scene of a pedestrian accident that took place at Sunset Avenue.

Authorities arrived at the area of Sunset Avenue near Shaw Street. While there, they discovered that a young girl was struck by a vehicle when she was attempting to cross the street.

The girl was identified as an 11-year-old who was crossing the street so that she could arrive at a bus stop. This is when she was suddenly struck.

The girl was rushed to the St. Elizabeth Medical Center with a variety of serious injuries.

Police say that the driver did not initially stay at the scene of the accident. The vehicle was located a short distance away from the accident scene in West Utica.

Tickets will be issued. At this time, the investigation into the accident continues.
